Fetish Wear - Modesty?

This post was born originally out of my prolonged frustration with the old argument that us men can’t quite control the lust aroused by such visual images as clad or nude women. Obviously, this is plain false, and not worthy of further argument.

That said, the main reason I refuse to buy into such a claim seems even more interesting. I don’t lust after women because of their clothing and now I’m trying my best not to be narcissistic. I’m also not going to say everybody is or ought to be like me. Yet, I can only view the beautiful world through the lens of my experience and as a result my personal perception takes me in a somewhat different direction from the media-led mainstream.

Again, I could be an exception. But it often gets me thinking: I find any sort of clothing particularly attractive only when worn by attractive girls, typically those with great bodies and pretty minds. And it makes perfect sense: almost anything is sexy if associated with somebody one personally finds attractive.

So it seems that those calling for a greater degree of modesty tend to reach the opposite conclusion that sexual attractiveness is defined by what you wear, not who you are. Implicit in the popular argument that blokes harass or leer because they find some kind of clothing arousing is, of course, that they wouldn’t have been interested in the first place if it wasn’t for the sexy clothing in question.

Now then, what is it called when you can’t get aroused without a specific clothing stimulus. That’s right, it’s a fetish. I’ll say it one more time that a demand for modesty will only make sense if and when made by guys who fetishise girls’ clothing.

And I now realise that not all men are the same. Generalising about men’s sexuality based solely on my experience would be outrageously foolish. But it got me wondering again, are all men really as clothing focused as claimed by the conservatives? Well, my very own suspicion is that the social presumption that all men, by default, are sexually aroused by certain types of clothing is likened to one of patriarchal gender-role things. So I’d like to hear from the men reading this blog: tell us about what clothing you find particularly attractive, on whom and why. Thanks!
